One of the new ventures for the FCLAA is a writers' group, which will be meeting monthly, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sorenson Gallery at the library. The meetings are open to anyone interested in writing, whether for publication or simply for one's own enjoyment. The group has met twice so far, but new members are welcome at any time. The members of the group will be sharing some of their writings with each other, and hopefully also on this blog. The next writers' group meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7:30.

  1. I second the invitation!
Question: What do cats, an Amish funeral, and an old outhouse have in common?
Answer: They are the subjects of last month's writers' group literary contributions.

Come next week and add your ideas to the discussion. Each month we share our writing plans, progress, and procrastination problems and offer suggestions and encouragement to one another. We have also agreed each month to write something--anything, any style, any length--about a subject drawn from a hat. August's subject is "Art". So--if you would like to critique a piece of art, or if you are inspired to write a poem about art in nature or on the wall (or off the wall for that matter), or if you know someone by the name of Art, bring it along (the writing, I mean, not Art), and we'll discuss it. I intend to share a poem about interior decorating--of an outhouse!

Even if you can't think of anything to write about, come anyway. We might even have coffee.
